53 Medications Fail Quality Testing: The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) recently conducted a quality test on various medications, resulting in 53 drugs failing the assessment. This list includes medications for blood pressure, diabetes, acid reflux, and certain vitamins. Notably, well-known pharmaceuticals like Paracetamol, Diclofenac, and Fluconazole from major companies were among those that did not meet the required standards, raising concerns about their safety for consumers.
While 53 medications were flagged, only 48 names have been disclosed so far. Five of the failed drugs’ manufacturers claim these medications are counterfeit and not produced by them. Among the failed products is Pantocid Tablet, manufactured by Sun Pharma. Additionally, commonly used medications, including the antihypertensive injections Shilkam and Palmosil, have also failed the tests. Some calcium and Vitamin D supplements did not pass either.
Health Risks: Medications to Avoid
The central government has issued a warning regarding the potential dangers of using certain medications, including Glucoamylase, Pectinase, Amylase, Protease, Alpha-Galactosidase, Cellulase, Lipase, and Bromelain. Furthermore, the failed drugs also include antiparasitic treatments for hair care. Consumers are advised to avoid these products to ensure their safety.
