Millions of tourists from around the world are flocking to the stunning valleys of Himachal Pradesh to escape the sweltering heat and indulge in exciting activities such as mountaineering, trekking, bungee jumping, mountain biking, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, zip-lining, and paragliding.

The breathtaking beauty of Himachal’s snow-covered landscapes captivates visitors, and with the recent launch of thrilling activities like cruises, shikara rides, and speed motorboat excursions on the famous Govind Sagar Lake, tourists are sure to extend their stays.

The Himachal government is actively working to boost the tourism sector and develop new tourist destinations. As part of this initiative, the state is set to launch cruises, shikara rides, and speed motorboats on Govind Sagar Lake, an event scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu after September 15.

Notably, the first cruise from Kochi, Kerala, has arrived in Bilaspur, marking a significant milestone for northern India. The cruise has been successfully docked at a designated landing point on the lake, and following the completion of necessary formalities by the operating firm, a trial run will commence shortly. The introduction of cruises on Govind Sagar Lake is expected to significantly enhance tourism in the region.

Bilaspur’s Deputy Commissioner, Abid Hussain Sadiq, has been proactive in identifying possibilities to establish the district as a new tourist hotspot. His efforts have garnered praise from Chief Minister Sukhu, who expressed gratitude for Sadiq’s initiatives in the state assembly.

With government and administrative support, tourism activities in Bilaspur are poised to develop in the coming years, similar to those in Kerala and Goa. The area around Mandi-Bharari, connected by the four-lane highway, is set to become a major tourism hub. Preparations are in full swing to finalize these plans, which will not only boost tourism but also create job opportunities and enhance the state’s economy.
